I can discuss the prevalence and impact of weight discrimination in society at large and within healthcare settings--- highlighting the detrimental effects on health and overall well-being.
I can discuss the intersectionality between weight stigma and racial discrimination, including historical context, the impact on individuals physical and mental health, and what needs to change both at the system and provider levels.
I can describe the practical strategies and tools to address weight and racial discrimination in their professional practice---including sharing advocacy organizations to get involved with, communication techniques, and strategies to promote empathy and cultural competence, when working with populations affected by weight stigma and racial discrimination.
