Learning Objectives
Ability to identify the two types of knee injuries. Acute; i.e., meniscus tears, tendon ruptures, muscle strain, ACL, MCL,PCL, LCL, dislocation and fracture and Chronic; i.e., IT Band Syndrome, Patellar/Quad Tendinopathy, meniscus tears and arthritis. As well as causation, namely fall from height, twisting, direct blow, MVA or repetitive use.
Exhibit a thorough understanding of mechanism of aforementioned knee injuries, as well as surgical and non-surgical conservative treatments. Also, exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of RTW timeframes for each type of knee injury, including potential work accommodation protocols.
Describe the anatomy and potential conditions with Articular Cartilage Injuries. In addition identify the Non-op=rest, NSAIDs, PT, Injections treatments and Operative=Displace full Thickness lesions-debridement, cartilage restoration, autograft/allograft and RTW protocols i.e., light duty, moderate activity, no/low impact.
