Learning Objectives
1.Participants will recognize the different levels of capacity needed for each type of legal document.
2.Participants will be able to define several different types and levels of guardianship and become familiar with the requirements, roles, and responsibilities of those involved.
3.Participants will able to state the ethical dilemmas that are involved when a third party is representing a client with diminished capacity.
4.Participants will be able to determine and explain which form of guardianship matches which situations in several case studies.
5.Participants will analyze how to identify the client and using their own professional code of ethics to help determine if they are the advocate for the client with diminished capacity or for the family member petitioning for guardianship.
