Learning Objectives
Describe the history of research on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, knowledge gaps, and ongoing analysis, including new groundwork on biomarkers and in vivo diagnosis of CTE.
Describe gross and microscopic neuropathological features of CTE.
Identify risk factors for developing CTE, including exposure to repetitive head impacts.
Describe clinical features of CTE, referred to as Traumatic Encephalopathy Syndrome (TES).
List new NINDS consensus diagnostic criteria for TES and identify limitations and future research goals to improve the TES Diagnostic Criteria.
Identify neuropsychological correlates of repetitive head impacts, the role of neuropsychology in evaluation, and challenges in diagnosing TES and CTE.
