Care "Current-cy": Regulatory Matters and Case Managers as Advocates

Speaker: Liz Helms

Author: Healthcare Unhinged, The Making of An Advocate

Decisions by federal and state policymakers affect how consumers buy health coverage and their ability to access care. Those with chronic conditions and complex care needs have much at stake when laws and regulations change, and many advocates are concerned about how rollback of the ACA—in part or as a whole—may impact access to care. This webinar will examine how case managers can help consumers navigate the new terrain.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe how regulations can enable consumer access or create barriers to care
  • Identify trends in health care coverage or prescription benefit design that can result in barriers to care for those with chronic conditions; and
  • Communicate as an advocate for clients by educating them on their rights as patients, consumers and citizens through My Patient Rights portal.
