Why Volunteering Matters to Your CCM®...

Did you know that case management Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who volunteer for the Commission for Case Manager Certification® (the Commission) directly impact your CCM credential?

VOLUNTEERING:
Volunteering for the Commission provides several benefits including exposing you to trends and best practices within case management, providing you with leadership training and experience while allowing you to network with fellow leaders in health care.
“Stepping into a volunteer leadership position is a serious commitment but the rewards – in terms of professional and personal development – make it well worth it,” said Melanie D.G. Kaplan in her article entitled "Taking the Lead" in the most recent issue of Associations NOW.

Although the Commission has a dedicated and talented staff, volunteers play an active and critical role in supporting the CCM credential.  Volunteering for the Commission through committee and task group activities allows you to give back to your profession and your credential. In addition, many of the Commission’s volunteers move on to serve as Commissioners, who share a commitment to the governance of the organization while having the foresight needed to see a future that will look very different from the present health care environment of the Affordable Care Act.

LEAD BY EXAMPLE:
As our careers advance, different drivers or motivators come into play. Very often what changes the most is our desire to give back to the profession or community that has contributed to our success.  We switch our focus from being mentored to mentoring-or from getting experience to giving experience,” said Daniel Martinage, CAE, Founder and Principal of Association Coach LLC (Associations NOW).
Volunteer leadership takes both a focus on today and a vision for the future.  The Commission is currently seeking applications for Commissioners and Item Writers.

Are interested in volunteering for the Commission as an item writer or in a leadership role and making a direct impact on the future of case management as a Commissioner?

Hello,

I received a standard email from CCMC pertaining to volunteer opportunities. I noticed there are opportunities to write test questions and other important tasks within the organization identified in the email. I would very much be interested in volunteering my time to help the organization and future/existing CCM members. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience and let me know what areas I could help out in. I think working directly with CCMC would be a very fulfilling experience both personally and professionally.

Best Regards,
Shahana Hadi, RN BSN CCM
