Learning Objectives
Examine how new knowledge of normothermic regional perfusion (NRP)/donation after circulatory death (DCD) organ transplant principles, techniques, and effects on graft quality and outcomes can be integrated into my health care teams approach to care.
Understand current data regarding heart-transplantation techniques using NRP/DCD, and if applicable, consider how this data can be optimally incorporated into existing algorithms in my health care practice.
Continue to become familiar with the ethical and legal concerns surrounding NRP/DCD, including stakeholder perspectives and necessary interdisciplinary collaboration, that will affect donation and transplant practices in the future.
Utilize knowledge of the current state of NRP to facilitate further understanding for myself and my health care team regarding the potential ability of NRP to enhance organ donation practices.
