Learning Objectives
1. Summarize how school, family and social pressures impact the formation of an LGBTQ youth's identity.
2. Utilize family interventions to create safety, support, space, and acceptance to support the coming out process with youth clients.
3. Examine risk and protective factors for anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors and suicide in LGBTQ youth.
4. Evaluate family dynamics to increase acceptance and support.
5. Determine the unique clinical needs of LBGTQ youth to inform treatment interventions.
6. Formulate plans with school staff, administration, and parents to promote LGBTQ affirmative school environments.
