In June 2020, through written unanimous consent, the Board of Commissioners voted to approve maintaining the 2019.2020 Executive Committee for the 2020.2021 fiscal year. In light of the uncertainty related to COVID-19, the board agrees that this decision is in the best interest of the Commission in order to mitigate and respond to the pandemic's potential impact on the Commission. By maintaining the Commission's existing Executive Committee, The Commission will continue to navigate these uncertain times without the disruption of a transition. This is a one time change and not a permanent change to the bylaws, which traditionally calls for one-year terms. In addition, the Commission has maintained other committee chair and volunteer assignments and responsibilities when possible for the coming year.
This is one of many actions the Commission has taken since March to support our CCM & CDMS Community as we navigate these unprecedented times. Other actions have included maintaining CCMC business operations virtually, implementation and availability of remote proctoring as a modality to take both the CCM and CDMS exams, and extending both the Spring 2020 CCM renewal window and August CCM exam administrations.
Michelle Baker, BS, RN, CRRN, CCM, will continue to serve as chair of the 16-member volunteer board. Baker is a registered nurse and manager of network operations for Paradigm Catastrophic Care Management, where she previously spent 14 years as a case manager for catastrophically injured workers. Her prior roles include director of nursing, director of rehabilitation, and senior case manager. She has served on the Commission board since 2016.
