As a member of the first class to take the Commission’s CCM examination, Sandra Zawalski has had the opportunity to watch the field of case management grow. What started out as an unknown profession is now common verbiage in healthcare. The independence in practice that case managers are now experience allows them to work with patient’s to enhance their healthcare and to educate them to become good healthcare consumers.
“I marvel at how far this profession has evolved and yet when I look to the future realize just how much more work is needed”. Case management remains an untapped service which can assist those in need of healthcare to obtain what is needed. Wellness programs can assist individuals with remaining well and case managers should be at the for-front of this push. Educating the public about case managers and healthcare could contribute to increased health knowledge and a healthier society.”
